Volvo Trucks sponsor FTA Transport Manager Conferences

Company provides key speaker on impact of Euro-6 on transport operations and air quality

FOR the third year in a row, Volvo Trucks are sponsoring the Freight Transport Association (FTA) Transport Manager Conferences, a key part of which will be the truck company’s presentation on Euro-6 and the impact it has had on transport operations since its mandatory introduction in January 2014.

The presentation will state that as the numbers of Euro-6 emissions standard compliant vehicles continues to grow, the benefits to air quality, particularly in urban areas, will increase. It will also consider the positive benefits accruing from the 95% reduction in harmful emissions of NOx and PM since Euro-1 was introduced in 1993.

‘We must not lose sight of the fact that the real reason for adopting lower-emission technology is to improve the air quality that we all need to sustain a healthy life expectancy,’ said Volvo Trucks’ product manager, John Comer (pictured).

In addition to Volvo Trucks, other key speakers invited to take part by the FTA include the Traffic Commissioners, who will be sharing the latest information, guidance and best practice advice on compliance.

This year there are 12 scheduled FTA Transport Manager Conferences taking place at venues around the UK between 9 September (Brands Hatch) and 2 December (Coventry).

According to Volvo Trucks’ marketing director, Amanda Hiatt, a day attending one of the FTA Transport Conference Manager 2015 events will prove to be a good investment, even for those transport managers with the busiest of schedules.

‘The conferences are an important and effective addition to the way in which we engage with our customers and colleagues in the transport industry,’ she said. ‘They are also an excellent forum for delegates to engage with representatives attending from Volvo Trucks.’
