Record tonnage for BAM Ritchies

Ian Christie

Another record-breaking year as company drills and blasts more than 41 million tonnes

BAM Ritchies say they broke another record in 2014 by drilling and blasting more than 41 million tonnes of rock at quarries in England, Scotland, Isle of Man and Norway, reaffirming their position as the UK’s leading drilling and blasting contractors.

The company’s drilling and blasting manager, Ian Christie (pictured), commented: ‘The team has worked very hard to ensure that we continue to deliver a thoroughly professional service to our customers. In addition, we continue to invest in new plant and systems so as to ensure that we are as efficient and cost-effective as possible. The record tonnage is the result.’

Mr Christie added that the company’s progress had been assisted by the withdrawal or reduced activity of some of the competition during the last few difficult years, while BAM Ritchies had persevered so as to maintain continuity of service to existing customers along with new contracts with new customers.
