Epiroc unveil next-generation PowerROC T45 MKII

Latest surface drill rig delivers enhanced performance and fuel efficiency for modern quarry operations 

EPIROC have announced the launch of their new PowerROC T45 MKII, an upgraded surface drill rig that delivers enhanced fuel efficiency, high availability, and effortless operation. This latest addition strengthens the PowerROC family, offering quarry and construction operators a reliable solution for demanding sites.

‘We are eager to bring the PowerROC T45 MKII to customers worldwide,’ said Epiroc senior product manager, Masanori Kogushi. ‘It’s the ideal choice for construction sites and aggregate, cement, and limestone quarries.’

At the heart of the new-generation T45 drill rig is an Epiroc-developed control system that intelligently reduces fuel consumption. Thanks to auto engine speed control, the rig automatically optimizes rev/min for all operations, resulting in up to 40% lower fuel burn compared to its predecessor.

Operator convenience is also a priority. The T45 MKII features a 12in intuitive display that provides all essential data, monitors performance, and offers operator assistance. Two one-touch lever controls make rod changing and drilling fast and simple, ensuring the system is quick to learn and easy to use.

Building on the success of the PowerROC T35 MKII (launched in 2024), the T45 MKII retains a modular, straightforward design for easy servicing. ‘Compared to the T35 MKII, the PowerROC T45 MKII rig offers a larger hole range, a key feature our customers have requested,’ emphasised Mr Kogushi. ‘This launch is a natural next step in the evolution of the PowerROC family.’

Field-tested over the past few months, the T45 MKII has been fine-tuned for maximum performance, meeting all Epiroc’s targets. Operators can also choose between two engine options – Tier 3/Stage IIIA and Tier 4 Final/Stage 5 – depending on site requirements.
