UK equipment dealer expands US coverage in the US with second acquisition in six months

MOLSON Group have expanded their US presence with the acquisition of Powerscreen of Washington. The UK-based equipment dealer, which generates more than £375 million in revenue, made its first move into the US market in April through the acquisition of Powerscreen of California and Hawaii.

Following the success of that deal, the acquisition of Powerscreen of Washington gives Molson coverage across the whole of the US West Coast and provides a strong platform for future growth in North America. As with the first deal, Molson’s ability to implement proven technology solutions and drive efficiency and growth were said to be key factors in the deal being agreed.

Following completion of the deal, Molson will implement their market-leading SmartCMD products, starting with DealerCMD, the ERP system that uses data insights to enable more accurate forecasting and business planning, and FleetCMD, the fleet-management platform that uses advanced telematics to deliver insights into machine utilization, fuel consumption, carbon emissions, running costs etc.

Molson Group chief operating officer Jason Powles said: ‘Molson Group is a highly successful equipment dealer, working with some of the world’s leading equipment manufacturers. We know how to optimize the performance of dealer businesses using our own tried and tested practices, including implementing the highly effective SmartCMD technology suite.

‘We can’t wait to work closely with the team at Powerscreen of Washington to implement these tools, which will deliver immediate improvements for the business, its customers and its staff. We will also gradually evolve the product range we offer in the US to mirror the 360 degree approach that has been so successful in Molson’s UK business.’

Pat Lowe, director of Powerscreen of Washington, said: ‘We felt an instant synergy with the Molson team and their approach – a total commitment to customer service, a comprehensive product range, and a culture of looking after their people. This, combined with the huge benefits Molson bring with their operational capability, makes for an exciting new direction for the future of this business.’

Pat Brian, vice-president and managing director of Terex Corporation, commented: ‘Molson Group is a valued Terex partner, both in the UK and more recently in the US. This second acquisition further strengthens our relationship with this impressive and forward-looking business. We are particularly excited for the benefits that this acquisition will bring both for our customers in the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana, as well as our own business.’
