Hills Quarry Products is looking for a Quarry Manager (appointed under 8.1c of the Quarries Regulations 1999) to join our team and take responsibility for safe, efficient, and cost-effective production at our Woodsford Quarry. About the Role

As Quarry Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the production of high-quality materials in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner, while meeting budgetary and performance targets. You will maintain strict compliance with all safety standards and legal requirements, including the Quarries Regulations and Health & Safety legislation. On a day-to-day basis, you will lead and motivate the team, foster a positive working environment, and support individuals to perform at their best. Additionally, you will oversee operational activities to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements, prepare accurate monthly reports and forecasts, and ensure full compliance with all relevant permissions and licences.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure consistent availability of quality product to meet customer demand and sales targets.

  • Manage workforce planning, recruitment, training, and performance reviews.

  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Supervise contractors and visitors to ensure safe practices.

  • Lead, motivate, and develop the quarry team to achieve targets.

  • Manage annual budgets and control expenditure.

  • Oversee procurement, issuing orders, and maintaining accurate records.

  • Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions.

  • Ensure contractor induction and compliance with site safety rules.

  • Maintain strong relationships with authorities and stakeholders.

  • Uphold site tidiness and environmental standards, including EA consent compliance.


What We’re Looking For

  • NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Safety, Health and Environmental Management in Mineral Product Operations

  • NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Plant Operations and competency qualification for operating quarry plant

  • Previous management experience in the mineral products industry (preferably sand and gravel)

  • Strong understanding of plant and machinery, maintenance planning, and production processes

  • Excellent knowledge of health and safety systems, cost control, and Quarries Regulations 1999

  • Self-motivated with strong organisational skills
