Euro Auctions USA sale proves a hit

First US sale attracts great interest with 374 registered buyers from 24 countries bidding for 387 lots

EURO Auctions USA say their first ‘Absolute Auction’, which took place on 26 June at the company’s new North American headquarters in Newnan, Georgia, was a great success.

A total of 387 lots were presented for sale to 374 registered buyers from 24 countries worldwide. The auction was a 100% unreserved sale, with all lots being sold to the highest bidder on the day.

As expected, a lot of interest came from buyers located in the south-eastern US, with particular interest coming from many of the major construction equipment and machinery specialists in the state of Georgia.

Jonnie Keys, vice-president of Euro Auctions, commented: ‘With a first sale like this there is always an element of both trepidation and anticipation regarding the outcome; however we were extremely pleased with the final result.

‘All the lots that Euro Auctions prepared for sale were received well. We were delighted with the participation of the local market, with 85% of sales attributed to American buyers of which 25% came from the Georgia area.

‘We had long aspired to enter the US market and by acquiring this site in late 2012 we located Euro Auctions squarely at the hub of the American equipment industry. The sale was a real success with buyers and sellers alike and we are now working hard on making the next sale an even bigger success.’

Euro Auctions say this auction marks the start of regular sales at the Atlanta site, with another sale planned for 2 October and four further auctions envisaged for 2014.
