Wind farm working

Four new Volvo A25D articulated dumptrucks recently delivered to Edward McKay of Brora, Scotland, have gone to work on the construction of a new wind farm at Causeymire, 12 miles south of Thurso.

The first phase of the project involves the construction of a 2.1km haul road from a nearby quarry which is providing stone by-products to form the haul road itself as well as the access road and staging platforms for the wind turbines.

All four trucks are currently fully deployed carrying the stone for the haul road but once the site of the wind farm is reached a total of 10km of roadway will be built to link the 21 wind turbines, the first of which is expected to be up and running by June 2004.
