Trolex win gold award at UK Business Awards 2022

Trolex silica monitor

Innovative Air XS Silica Monitor beats off stiff to pick up top award for best product development

TROLEX, manufacturers of technology products to improve workers safety in hazardous environments, have been awarded the Gold Award for Best Product Development at the recent UK Business Awards 2022.

Trolex were recognized for the development of the Air XS Silica Monitor, a product set to revolutionize worker safety in the industry by delivering real-time detection of dangerous respirable crystalline silica (RCS) particulates in airborne dust mixtures.

The Air XS Silica Monitor displays the presence of RCS mass by volume, while also being able to distinguish the presence of RSC within dust mixtures. In addition, the monitor can track changing concentrations of RCS content over time, letting workers know if the amount of RCS in their workspace is increasing as they work and when it has risen to dangerous levels.

Requiring no complicated set-up and only five minutes of maintenance a month, the Air XS Silica Monitor is easy-to-use and provides accurate monitoring with minimal training.

Judged by a panel of independent experts from across the industry, Trolex faced stiff competition from entrants including world-leading companies in the category for companies designing innovative products. Trolex were also finalists in the Best Innovative Product - B2B category.

Announcing the Gold Award, chair of judges Christina Melling said: ‘Trolex have spent nearly a decade perfecting the Air XS Silica Monitor, an incredible device that will save lives around the world by detecting silica so that silica inhalation and silicosis can be prevented.’

Steve Holland, managing director of Trolex, accepted the award and said: ‘We are delighted to have received this Gold Award in recognition of our efforts to develop an innovative product that has the potential to save lives. The competition was fierce, and we are proud to have come first among a strong field of candidates.

‘Our Gold Award reflects the confidence of the judges in the Air XS Silica Monitor as a product, and the opportunity for the growth and development of our business going forward.’
