Mineral Products Association calls for entries and announces new Outstanding Contractor award

THE Mineral Products Association (MPA) is calling for entries to the prestigious 2026 Health & Safety Awards and announcing the launch of a new award for the Outstanding Contractor working within the mineral products industry.

This new award has been introduced by MPA in recognition of the vital and increasingly important role that contractors play in the completion of a wide range tasks and activities that are critical to the mineral products industry. This award demonstrates the importance of recognizing excellence in a contractor’s management of not only their own staff’s health and safety, but also their client’s. It also provides an additional way of sharing new innovations and processes developed by a contractor across the industry.

Based on feedback from MPA members, a number of other improvements make it easier for organizations of all sizes and from all sectors across the industry to submit entries, including the following:

  • The scope of the Eurobitume Trophy has been expanded to include entries from both MPA and Eurobitume members. The MPA is very keen to increase the number of entries that are related to the handling of bitumen and related asphalt products and services. The updated Eurobitume Trophy Briefing Notes, widening the scope of organizations eligible to enter, and a new entry form will help to achieve this.

  • The number of Topic Awards has been reduced from eight categories to seven, broadening the scope of the Transport and Logistics Topic.

All entries to the MPA Awards must relate to activities based in the UK.

Please watch this video to find out more about the awards and the benefits of entering for both your own organization and the industry.

The simple to complete entry forms and briefing notes can be downloaded from the Safequarry website.

Chris Leese, executive chair of the MPA Executive Management Committee, said: ‘The sharing of knowledge about the good practices and innovations will help us all to make our industry a safer and healthier place for everyone. It is also important to recognize the outstanding performance that individuals and organizations have made on our journey towards ‘Vision Zero’.

‘I would urge you to share your achievements in health and safety by entering the awards – we are all ‘Safer by Sharing’.’

The Awards will be at a prestigious live MPA Health & Safety event in London on 7 July 2026.
