Terex Finlay launch the J-1170AS jaw crusher

Terex Finlay J-1170AS jaw crusher

New tracked primary mobile jaw crusher with on-board sizing screen to take centre stage at Intermat 2015

TEREX Finlay have announced the immediate launch of their new J-1170AS tracked primary mobile jaw crusher, which will be the highlight of the company’s stand at the upcoming Intermat exhibition in Paris, from 20–25 April.

The high-performance machine is built around the renowned Terex 1,100mm x 700mm (44in x 28in) jaw crusher, which has a proven track record for high capacities and large reduction ratios in recycling, aggregate production and mining applications. A new key feature of this model is its detachable on-board sizing screen, allowing it to deliver a single sized product without the need for a second machine.

Terex Finlay say that while the jaw chamber provides excellent material reduction and product sizing in the processing of blasted rock and ore, it is also available with an optional hydraulic release system with automatic overload protection to prevent damage by uncrushable items in the feed material, which can prove beneficial when processing construction and demolition debris.

Powered by either a 261kW (350hp) Tier 3/Stage IIIA Caterpillar C9 engine or a 257kW (345hp) Tier 4i Scania DC9 70A engine, the hydrostatic transmission of the jaw chamber offers operators reversible operation in the event of a blockage. The high-powered hydrostatic system also provides variable chamber speed to suit specific applications, while hydraulically assisted closed-side setting adjustment allows CSS changes to be made in a matter of minutes.

The machine has a heavy-duty automatic variable-speed vibrating grizzly feeder with integrated pre-screen, which provides an aggressive action for the efficient separation of fines and ensures continuous choke feeding of the crushing chamber for optimal productivity. Material from the pre-screen can be diverted to a stockpile via the on board by-pass conveyor, or can join the crushed product on the main belt.

The large 9.6 cubic metre (12.55 cubic yard) feed hopper has hydraulically folding sides and an innovative hydraulic self-locking mechanism for efficient and faster machine set-up and tear-down times, while overall compact dimensions and excellent fuel economy make the J-1170AS equally suitable for contract crushing as well as demanding in-pit applications. The machine also features easy-to-reach service points for safe and quick regular maintenance.

‘With its on-board sizing screen, the J-1170AS allows operators to produce a ‘specced’ product without the need for a secondary screen,’ commented sales and marketing director Nigel Irvine. ‘Moreover, the sizing screen can be quickly detached without the need for additional lifting gear, which means that the machine can be used as ‘straight’ J-1170 jaw crusher, giving the operator versatility for applications that do not require sizing.

‘These factors combined with excellent crushing capabilities and the ease with which the machine can be transported, will ensure the demands of owner operators and crushing contractors are easily met.’
