Terex Finlay I-100RS for Tom Prichard Contracting

Terex Finlay I-100RS impact crusher

New mobile crusher makes an impact on productivity and efficiency in South Wales

TOM Prichard Contracting are ramping up their productivity and efficiency with a new Terex Finlay I-100RS impact crusher, supplied by Finlay Plant SW.

The variable-speed horizontal-shaft impact crusher – launched in the UK earlier this year – is said to give operators unprecedented levels of fuel efficiency and production, while the machine’s robust chamber delivers a highly consistent product shape.

Currently processing stone at a site near St Athan, in South Wales, to produce MOT Type 1 at a rate of around 140 tonnes/h, the I-100RS is fed by an existing J1160 jaw crusher, one of several other Terex Finlay machines owned by Tom Prichard Contracting that have been supplied by Finlay Plant SW.

Features of the I-100RS include a 2.44m x 1.2m (8ft x 4ft) single-deck screen for sizing and recirculating oversize material back to the crushing chamber. The sizing screen can also be quickly detached for applications that do not require resizing or recirculation of materials for further processing.

The I-100RS’s conveyors fold hydraulically, providing rapid set-up times and easy point-to-point moves when operating on multiple sites.

Francis O’Kelly is site manager at Tom Prichard Contracting, who have their headquarters in Llantrisant, South Wales. He said: ‘The I-100RS is running brilliantly. It’s producing a quality end product; the stone is rounded off and has a nice finish.

‘The machine is also extremely versatile. Meshes can be easily changed to produce different sized products, and we also receive excellent after-sales support, service and spares through Finlay Plant SW.’

Tom Prichard Contracting are one of the leading providers of construction and support services to both the private and public sectors throughout Wales, The Midlands and the South West.

Established in 1995 as a plant hire company, the business has since grown to offer a full range of services including demolition, site clearance, bulk earthworks, drainage, ground remediation, infrastructure services, recycling and waste management.

Gareth Johnson, managing director of Finlay Plant SW – part of the Finlay Group of companies – has worked with the team at Tom Prichard Contracting to introduce the new I-100RS, as well as other Terex Finlay machines, to the company’s fleet.

He said: ‘The I-100RS is already proving its worth on site. It’s producing a high-value end product and its versatility, speed of production and efficiency make it an important addition to the fleet at Tom Prichard Contracting.’
