Lafarge Tarmac at Ecobuild 2013

Visitors welcome newly formed company’s vision for sustainable construction at Ecobuild 2013

LAFARGE Tarmac unveiled the latest solutions in sustainable construction at Ecobuild last week, where the newly formed British company exhibited for the first time as the UK’s leading construction materials and services company.

The event provided the first opportunity for visitors to discover how Lafarge Tarmac are bringing together more than 100 years of heritage, knowledge and experience, to meet the sustainability needs of the future by providing a high-quality and diverse product offering with innovative, value-added solutions for customers across the UK.

A main feature exhibit at Ecobuild, the Lafarge Tarmac stand challenged visitors to ‘imagine a world without construction materials’, and showcased four key elements of sustainable construction.

The company’s eye-catching, two-storey stand gave visitors an insight into the sustainable credentials of concrete, aggregates, cement, lime and asphalt, presenting the life-cycle story from the responsible sourcing and extraction of raw materials, to the supply, construction and use of innovative solutions.

At the centre of the stand, Lafarge Tarmac’s Expert Seminar sessions proved very popular with Ecobuild visitors. A first for Lafarge Tarmac, the interactive seminars, led by sustainability experts, architects and engineers from The Concrete Centre, covered a variety of topics over the three days including thermal mass, sustainable specification, decorative concrete and efficient building systems.

‘Sustainability is firmly at the heart of the Lafarge Tarmac business, and we were pleased to be able to present the vision of the new company to visitors who came to Ecobuild this year,’ said Cyrille Ragoucy, chief executive officer of Lafarge Tarmac.

‘The founding companies each have a long and proven legacy of sustainable performance, products and solutions and we are committed to build on this.’

Dr Martyn Kenny, sustainability director for Lafarge Tarmac, added: ‘We understand the importance of sustainability and we will continue to develop high-quality construction solutions that contribute positively to the creation of a more sustainable built environment.

‘This approach also enables us to help customers in achieving their own sustainability ambitions, while supporting the drive to meet government targets.’
