Setting the sustainability benchmark

AGGREGATE Industries have become the first company in the quarrying sector to have their UK sustainability report externally assured to Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Guidelines.

The report, which scored a B+, is first to be produced by Aggregate Industries under the GRI reporting framework, a measure that underpins the company’s commitment to sustainability, which is a vision supported by the UK Green Building Council and a range of other stakeholder groups.

‘Reporting under GRI guidelines benchmarks us against a global framework for sustainability,’ said Dr Miles Watkins, director of sustainable construction at Aggregate Industries. ‘To gain B+ is a great achievement in the first year that we have chosen to benchmark our organizational performance in this way.’

The report has been externally verified by SGS UK and is available on Aggregate Industries’ website.
