O’Donovan Waste scoop prestigious Health and Safety award
Company wins Sir Frank Davies Trophy at this year’s MPA awards event
O’DONOVAN Waste Disposal have been awarded the prestigious Sir Frank Davies Trophy at the Mineral Products Association (MPA) Health & Safety Conference and Awards 2019. Held in London last month, the conference is one of the MPA’s most important events of the year, bringing together companies from across the country to celebrate commitment, progress and achievement in health and safety.
The trophy – which recognizes outstanding excellence in health and safety in companies with fewer than 1,000 employees – was presented to Jacqueline O’Donovan (pictured), managing director of O’Donovan Waste.
The company was commended for keeping health and safety at the top of its agenda and delivering the best safety performance in the sector through continuous progression.
Commenting on winning the respected accolade, Ms O’Donovan said: ‘I am absolutely honoured for us to win this award. We work hard to ensure that health and safety is not only a top priority at O'Donovan, but it is second nature to the team in every operation we carry out.
‘We never stop learning and work with our stakeholders, who have been an integral part of our success and assist us in implementing innovative change and share our vision on all-round safer working practices. It is a fantastic achievement to be awarded this trophy and we would like to thank the judges and the MPA for the recognition.’
MPA chief executive Nigel Jackson added: ‘The winner of the Sir Frank Davies Trophy for outstanding practice and performance for those companies with fewer than 1,000 employees was O’Donovan Waste Disposal, who the judges felt had sustained their health and safety performance year-on-year, transferring health and safety from a mere priority to a true value.’
