New Loadall from JCB

Latest 550-80 telescopic handler offers significantly improved performance in heavy-duty applications

JCB have expanded their class-leading Loadall telescopic handler line with the launch of the 550-80. The new model is the company’s highest-capacity Loadall to date and is specifically designed for bulk-handling operations in heavier-duty applications, including loading duties with a bucket and waste handling.

The 550-80 telehandler, which is also available in a Wastemaster specification, is powered by a 130hp (97kW) engine and boasts 140 litres/min variable-flow hydraulics and Hi-flow pipework for optimized cycle times and auxiliary service performance.

The 8.1m lift height, 4.99-tonne maximum lift capacity machine has been developed in direct response to customer demand for a Loadall with greater lift performance at reach.

With servo controls as standard, operators benefit from low lever effort and superior ergonomics. In addition, JCB’s optional Smooth Ride System offers better load retention and increased driver comfort in load-and-carry operations.

The 550-80 delivers high dump and roll-back angles of 46 degrees and 34 degrees, respectively, ensuring superior material retention and stockpiling for efficient lorry or hopper loading.

The inner boom of the 550-80 Wastemaster uses a splayed-nose design to maximize structural integrity while incorporating Z-bar bucket linkage. This system provides 6.5 tonnes of breakout force – an increase of more than 50% on the current 541 Wastemaster, while the machine’s low boom line contributes to good all-round visibility.
