New JCB 370X wastes no time for Wiltshire recycling firm

New JCB 370X crawler excavator for Crapper & Sons Landfill New JCB 370X crawler excavator for Crapper & Sons Landfill

Crapper & Sons Landfill invest in largest and most powerful crawler excavator in JCB X-Series range

A FAMILY-run recycling and landfill company has invested in a brand-new JCB 370X crawler excavator to shift waste on its landfill site. Crapper & Sons Landfill Ltd have been busy using the machine to load heavy clay from a waste cell into an articulated dumptruck at their 180-acre waste-recycling site, which handles approximately 120,000 tonnes of waste material per year.

Supplied by JCB dealer Holt JCB, the JCB 370X joins a JCB TM320S wheeled telescopic loader, a JCB 220X and four JCB 437 wheeled loading shovels already in Crapper & Sons Landfill’s fleet.

Company managing director Richard Crapper said: ‘We invested in a JCB 220X just over a year ago and are really pleased with how it has performed, so adding the larger JCB 370X was an easy decision. The machine has been running exceptionally well and is proving very fuel-efficient. The team at Holt JCB are excellent; we’ve built a strong working relationship, and they’re always quick to respond when we need support.’

According to JCB, the 370X is the largest and most powerful model in the manufacturer’s X Series range, with the ability to move 4.5 tonnes more material per litre of fuel than competitive models. It also boasts a Stage V 240kW (322hp) diesel engine, delivering 14% more power.

Established in 1985 in Royal Wooton Bassett, Wiltshire, Crapper & Sons Landfill specialize in recycling, waste-management and the supply of recycled aggregates. The company is driven by sustainability and diverts around 85% of all its waste material away from landfill.
