New individual hot aggregate level indicator

Building on the success of the ED200 multi-bin system Ellway Design have added the ED200ie individual continuous sensor head for hot aggregate to their range of specialist level measurement solutions for the asphalt industry.

The ED200ie is designed to be connected to existing bin metal work or metal work of choice depending on the nature of the stone in use and cost considerations. The sensor heads are all metal in construction with a robust through-wall connection point. The tough weatherproof casing houses snap-in electronics that can easily be replaced at a fraction of the cost of replacing traditional sensor heads. A thermal barrier and heat shield protects the measuring electronics from the effects of heat, allowing the sensor to maintain performance in temperatures up to 250°C. The sensors are calibrated at ground level in a simple three-step process, and incorporate a ground level safe to weld isolator to protect the sensor electronics during plant maintenance. The heads are available as standard with a 4-20mA output for forward connection to a PLC. Other outputs are available for control systems requiring a voltage output.

For a more advanced set of features the sensor heads can be connected to Ellway Design’s hot-aggregate operator interface - a Windows-based system that displays the bin levels as a bar chart reading in tonnes and as a percentage of the bin capacity. The interface also includes bin linearization, which overcomes the non-linear shape of the bin to give a more accurate level reading, and a multi-aggregate calibration setting, which accepts up to five different material types with independent settings for dust and sand to give a more accurate level reading when switching between materials of different density.

The sensors are designed for self-installation and set up and have a 12-month warranty. For installations where there is no existing bin metal work Ellway Design recommend their isolating pillars and channel.
