New fleet of Doosan machines for Duchy Plant Hire

Duchy invest in new Doosan excavator

Company strengthens rental fleet with 15 excavators to meet growing demolition market

CORNWALL-based Duchy Plant Hire have purchased 15 new Doosan excavators from Kellands (Plant Sales) Ltd, the authorized dealers for the Doosan range across South of England, including the Channel Islands.

Duchy Group’s investment in the latest excavators, which range in various sizes from 2.7 to 25.5 tonne, is a direct response to the company’s steady growth and healthy order book for 2021 and beyond. The machines include: a DX225LC-5; six DX140LC-5 excavators; a DX255LC-5 unit; and three DX85R-3 mini-excavators.

Jaime Shelton, founder of Duchy Group, commented: ‘We started our demolition and recycling businesses last year. Duchy Demolition has already completed several projects and is about to begin on some prestigious new contracts for the residential market in the county.’

Presented in the distinctive new machine styling scheme common to all Doosan LC-5 generation excavators, the DX225LC-5 is powered by a six-cylinder, turbocharged Doosan DL06P water-cooled diesel engine, providing a power output of 124kW (166hp) at 1,800 rev/min.

The proven DL06P diesel engine has also been specified in the DX255LC-5 excavator, but delivering 141kW (192hp) at 1,900 rev/min. The machine also features Doosan’s Smart Power Control (SPC) system which is now standard on all LC-5 models. It monitors motor and pump performance and limits unnecessary power use depending on whether the impending workload is heavy or light.

The DX140LC-5 combines enhanced comfort and controllability, together with a range of features to boost fuel efficiency, uptime and return on investment, with a focus on increased power, robustness and agility. At the heart of the excavator model is a Perkins 4.5 engine, which delivers the power and torque of larger engines with a smaller displacement.

The fuel-efficient DX85R-3 mini-excavator – which has travel speeds of 2.7km/h (low range) and 4.7km/h (high range) – offers an impressive bucket digging force of 6.3 tonne and a traction force of 6.6 tonne.
