New Doosan machines for McCarthy Marland

Bristol-based recycling firm purchases Stage IV-compliant reduced tail swing excavators and wheel loader

WASTE-management operators McCarthy Marland Ltd have purchased two new Doosan DX140LCR-5 reduced tail swing crawler excavators and a DL250-5 wheel loader for their material recycling facility (MRF) in the St Philips area of Bristol.

Recycling is an essential part of McCarthy Marland’s operations. The company recycles around 95% of waste materials at its St Philips site – using state-of-the-art waste-segregation technology that allows the MRF to recover as much recyclable material as possible so that it can go on to be reprocessed and reused.

Kevin McDonagh, operations manager for the business, said: ‘We have been purchasing Doosan machines for over 10 years now and they have always performed well in our busy sorting and loading operations in Bristol.
‘As part of the latest deal, Mark Payne of Kellands [local authorized Doosan dealers] was able to arrange a very competitive package, including three year warranty and a three year service contract, giving us complete peace of mind. Using his knowledge of the industry, Mark has also ensured the machines have been set up with the correct specifications for our applications.’

As with all Doosan’s Stage IV emissions-compliant models, the DX140LCR-5 excavator offers increased performance, durability and fuel efficiency, with a key focus on more power, robustness and versatility. The machine is powered by a Perkins 1204F engine, which combines reduced fuel consumption with the power and torque of larger engines with a smaller displacement. The engine delivers a maximum power output of 115hp at 2,000 rev/min, while swing torque has been boosted by 28%.

According to Doosan, the new operator cab in the DX140LCR-5 is one of the largest in the compact equipment market. Already excelling in spaciousness and ergonomics, the cab has been further refined for superior operator comfort and ease of operation. With a bucket capacity of 2.5 cubic metres, the DL250-5 wheel loader can meet a wide range of material-handling and loading applications.

The DL250-5 wheel loader is powered by a Doosan DL06 engine that provides 175hp at 2,100 rev/min. There is also an expanded choice of options for the machine, including: ride control; a double suspension (horizontal and vertical) heated seat; a third spool auxiliary line; a reversing fan; and a limited slip differential system.

The compactness and robustness of the DL250-5 model provides complete manoeuvrability in narrow and confined space areas such as those found at McCarthy Marland’s MRF in Bristol and, in combination with the selection of attachments available, it can undertake a wide range of applications.
