New conical filters from MAHLE

A new introduction from German filter specialists MAHLE Industriefiltration GmbH will allow all air systems utilizing 3-lug fixing cartridges – no matter who the manufacturer is – to benefit from the company’s special conical filter technology.

Dustcheck of Stoke-on-Trent are sole UK and Ireland distributors of MAHLE filters. Joint managing director Ed Spires said: ‘This is the first time MAHLE have manufactured products for other machines. It’s a new territory for us but MAHLE have done their research and we believe the market will be receptive to the many advantages of conical filtration.’

The new range of filters has been designed to fit any 3-lug fixing system used on dust- extraction equipment. Dustcheck hope the launch will see users of standard parallel, cylindrical filters make the switch to conical filtration and in doing so reap benefits, including:

  • Better cleaning – even spread of compressed air ensures even filtration
  • Superior dust sedimentation due to lower approach velocities
  • Lower differential pressure stability
  • Regular flow rate over the whole length of the filter.

‘There are environmental benefits too, as less waste is produced and less energy used,’ added Mr Spires. ‘The lower lifetime costs must appeal as the conical filters need to be replaced less frequently. This improved operational time will mean lower maintenance and housekeeping on dust extraction equipment.’

The conical filters cover most applications thanks to MAHLE’s range of filter media as well as static media where ATEX standards must be met. Many systems still operate a standard reverse-jet cleaning system which, if performing poorly, will shorten the life of any filter.

Duckcheck can supply MAHLE jet cleaning systems which are matched to the cartridge size, meaning improved performance and reduced costs due to more efficient use of compressed air.

The new filters are available in diameters of 145mm, 156mm, 220mm and 328mm and in lengths from 600mm to 1,200mm for the parallel shape, or from 500mm to 1,200mm for the conical version.
