New and improved products from Milltronics

A new range of weigh-belt feeders has been launched by Milltronics following their acquisition of AutoWeigh in the US. The in-motion weighing systems can handle a variety of process materials and range from low-capacity units (400 series) to large industrial units (1200 series). They provide rate and total information, together with feed-control functions which help to improve product quality and reduce waste.

Units may be customised to meet exact application needs. A variety of lengths, belt types, inlet configurations and drive types are easily incorporated into the design. Options available include mild and stainless steel, open or enclosed construction, and constant- or variable-speed motors.

The feeders deliver an accurate mass-flow rate of material into a process which is then profiled by an adjustable mechanical shear gate according to the given material particle size. The feed rate is then maintained and adjusted by varying the speed of the belt. Using the belt-load and belt-speed sensors, the product is weighed on the belt and the flow rate is calculated and compared to the desired rate. The on-board PID controller makes the necessary corrections to the belt speed.

Another new product from Milltronics is the Accumass BW500, a belt scale and weighfeeder integrator that increases efficiency by distributing process control functions. It features a built-in remote telemetry unit, data-logging and basic programmable controller functions. It is compatible with Milltronics' modular plug-in Smartlinx digital interface module for industry-standard PLCs. The need for additional communication gateways is eliminated and PLC resources are freed for higher-order functions. The BW500 has numerous outputs that can control alarms, pre-feed equipment and other ancillary devices. By combining control, data-logging and communications functions in one unit, the BW500 helps to cut overall costs.

Milltronics' MiniRanger Plus level-monitoring system now offers additional features, including extended measurement range, a universal power supply and optional volume or flow conversion. All models have an extended measurement range of 15m and a universal ac/dc power supply for improved installation convenience. Specific application needs may be met by volume or flow conversion options.
