Multidrive launch ejector body
Multidrive Ltd have introduced a 32-tonne payload bulk material on-/off-road vehicle equipped with a rapid material-discharge system.
The M50 8x8 incorporates a heavy-duty, multi-load ejector body which can be fitted to a variety of vehicles. The body has internal dimensions of 7.8m long, 2.3m wide and 1.2m deep. Various specialized bodies are available in capacities up to 100m3, allowing a wide range of loads to be carried.
High- or low-density materials with abrasive, sticky or granular characteristics can be discharged in just 15s. In operation, the load is carried out by a conveyor, thereby reducing any impact on loads and abrasion on the body.
The heavy-duty conveyor, which reduces impact on the body floor, incorporates a belt drive with automatic return which is powered by a minimum-displacement hydraulic system. The automatic tailgate is operated by hydraulic rams with a position-sensing system. As there is no tipping involved, loading and unloading noise is reduced, less dust is created and there is minimum damage to high-value loads.
The M50 is powered by a Caterpillar 3406E 339kW diesel engine through an Allison HD4560 two-range, six-speed automatic transmission. Working in conjunction with a two-speed drop box to all four axles produces a maximum road speed of 80km/h, over 50% gradability and a kerb turning circle of 17.5m.
The high-capacity eight-wheel brake system is augmented by a jake-brake retarder acting on all wheels and providing over 400hp of retardation, allowing most grades to be descended without having to apply the main brakes.
Access to the ROPS/FOPS cab can be made from either side and there is seating for up to three people. Visibility is enhanced by a large glazed area. All instrumentation is ergonomically positioned and air-conditioning is fitted as standard.
Access to the engine and associated components is by swing-out heavy-duty fenders to allow ground-level servicing. A state-of-the-art diagnostic engine and transmission-management system is fitted for optimum economic performance.
