Membership of Safety Schemes in Procurement represents evolutionary next step for MP Connect

THE Mineral Products Qualifications Council’s MP Connect platform has become an approved supporter member of Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP), the UK-based umbrella body that drives mutual recognition of occupational health and safety assessment schemes.

This strategic step reinforces MP Connect’s unwavering commitment to elevating safety and simplifying supply-chain compliance.

Since its founding in 2009, SSIP has become the recognized benchmark for health and safety pre-qualification in construction and related industries. Supporter membership of SSIP signals demonstrable alignment with the ‘Stage 1 Core Criteria’ for health and safety competence, as endorsed by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), helping contractors and organizations avoid repetitive certification while complying with the HSE‐endorsed ‘Core Criteria’.

‘Joining SSIP is an evolutionary next step for us,’ commented Laura Mountjoy, general manager of MP Connect. ‘It demonstrates our commitment not just to delivering value and efficiency in our services, but to raising the safety bar for everyone we work with.’

By integrating SSIP standards into MP Connect’s ethos, clients and partner organizations gain assurance that MP Connect now aligns with SSIP’s core mission: to reduce duplication of health and safety assessment processes and ensure consistent standards across contractors and certifying bodies.

‘Our supply-chain and clients will benefit through streamlined assessment and clearer validation of credentials,’ added Andy Taylor, compliance and strategic partnership consultant at MP Connect. ‘We believe this move will further strengthen our relationships and open more opportunities for collaboration around safety and compliance.’
