More Volvos for Leiths

Quarry operators Leiths (Scotland) Ltd have purchased more mobile plant from Volvo Construction Equipment for use at their quarries.

Company chairman Ian Leith said reliability, performance and operator preference were the key drivers behind the latest purchase from Volvo, which includes two EC360C excavators, three loading shovels and an A25E articulated hauler.

The C-series excavators are powered by Tier III-compliant Volvo engines, complementing the range’s hydraulics to provide high efficiency, rapid dig cycles and low-fuel consumption.

One of the major features of the excavator line is the advanced mode control system, which helps ensure maximum hydraulic horsepower is available and delivered at a constant engine speed under varying load conditions.

Volvo also say the C-series boom and arm geometry provides efficient digging forces and lifting capacities, resulting in faster work cycles. Hose rupture valves are fitted as standard to the boom and dipper cylinders, together with quick-fit hydraulics and a hammer/shear service.

The Volvo F series loading shovels – the L180F, L150F and L120F – also come with Tier III-compliant engines but feature new transmissions and operator compartments.  Volvo say the machines are the most modern general-purpose wheel loaders on the market in terms of load sensing hydraulics, efficient combustion and operator comfort.
