Mixed-service tyres from Dunlop

Designed specifically for vehicles operating in on- and off-road conditions, Dunlop have introduced the SP382 and SP482 ranges of tyres for steer and drive axles respectively. The tyres have been designed for use on tippers, concrete mixers, cranes and other construction plant operating primarily on-road but also in quarries and construction sites. The new tyres provide high mileage as well as performance, where off-road traction together with resistance to abrasion and stone penetration are important considerations.

The SP382 is a mixed-service steer tyre that can also be used as an all-position tyre if required. The tread is wide and deep with solid ribs and optimized groove geometry. The carcass features a special top belt along with stone protectors to minimize the risk of stone penetration, while also providing high mileage, improved carcass integrity, and high wet-skid and traction performance. Two designs of the SP382 tyre will be available — a four-rib version for standard aspect ratio sizes and a five-rib version for low-aspect ratio sizes when they become available.

For drive axles, the SP482 is also a mixed-service tyre with road performance being its prime objective. Its construction and tread design ensure the optimum balance of on- and off-road traction with the added benefit of self-cleaning. The tread design has deep radial shoulder grooves combined with a centreline rib for optimum traction and steering precision. The groove geometry minimizes stone holding and provides self-cleaning properties.

Both ranges feature TPL (top polyamide layer) technology. This is a corrosion-resistant barrier that is built into the tyre between the tread and the high-strength steel belts. As well as preventing penetration damage, TPL also prevents corrosion damage caused by the ingress of moisture.

The tyres are currently available in size 13R22.5 and replace the SP841 and SP911 tyres in this size.
