Metso Outotec introduce Planet Positive

Planet Positive

Introduction of all-encompassing approach to sustainability to boost customers’ ecological handprint

METSO Outotec say sustainability is one of their strategic priorities and they are committed to limiting global warming to 1.5°C, with targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative.

As the next step, the company is now introducing Planet Positive – an all-encompassing approach to sustainability. Covering the environmental, social and financial aspects of sustainability, Metso Outotec’s Planet Positive efforts will enforce the company’s purpose to enable sustainable modern life.

To serve customers’ sustainability needs and to increase the size of their ecological handprint, Metso Outotec say they will focus on further growing their sustainable offering.

The company’s Planet Positive portfolio will focus on the most environmentally efficient technologies (of which there are already more than 100 in Metso Outotec’s current portfolio), responding to the sustainability requirements of customers – energy/water efficiency, reduction of emissions, circularity, safety etc – in the industries it serves, including aggregates.

At the same time, Metso Outotec will focus on minimizing the environmental impact of their own operations and supply chain to diminish their ecological footprint. Already today, the company’s handprint (positive impact) is said to be significantly bigger than its footprint.

‘We have a wide Planet Positive offering available for our customers, and with a strong R&D focus we continue to strengthen our sustainable offering for the aggregates, mining and metals refining industries,’ said Piia Karhu, senior vice-president of business development at Metso Outotec.

‘We also have high targets for sustainability in our own operations and supply chain. There is a growing demand in our industry for environmentally efficient solutions.’
