JCB improve loader range

JCB have upgraded their wheel loader range with a series of improvements to both the compact and larger machines, resulting in increased performance, reduced owning and operating costs, and better service access.

The Smooth Ride System (SRS) is now available as an option on the compact 407, 408, 409, 410 and 411 ZX models. The totally hydraulic system improves operator comfort and load retention in the bucket by dampening out the forces imposed on the machine by the movement of the loader arms as the machine travels over rough terrain.

Other major changes made to the 407, 408 and 409 include the introduction of Rexroth transmission components. In line with the larger wheel loaders, an air-conditioning unit has now been introduced as an option and the opportunity has also been taken to further improve the control and servicing of the machines. This has been achieved by relocating components such as the auxiliary service pump and fuel sedi-menter and combining the engine and hydraulic cooling pack.

Larger wheel loaders, from the 411 through to the 456, have been updated to include smooth-shift transmission. These updates provide additional tractive effort, smooth and step-less gear changes, smooth directional changes even from full speed forward to reverse, a reduction in hydraulic cycle time and an increase in breakout force.

The cab environment has also been updated. Coil-type blower hoses have been replaced by smooth-bore moulded plastic ducting and the rear screen demisting vents have been replaced by an electrically heated rear screen to ensure quick and effective demisting. These improvements result in increased airflow inside the cab and faster cooling/heating performance. An optional carbon air inlet filter is useful for machines working in odorous environments such as landfill sites.

The in-cab fuse box has been moved towards the rear to allow for a storage pocket under the arm rest which is now completely adjustable to ensure the best possible operating position. Steering is now reduced to lock to lock to minimize operator fatigue.
