Hyundai on the fast track in the UK

Hyundai

Company claims to be fastest-growing construction equipment firm and sets sights on other European markets

HYUNDAI Heavy Industries Europe (HHIE) now claim to be the fastest-growing construction equipment company in the UK, having increased their market share year on year since their machines first arrived in the country from South Korea some 15 years ago.

This month [October] Hyundai reported that machines released to the UK and Irish market have reached a total of 1,000 units in the year to date – a European record for the company, and an increase of 218 units over the 782 machines released to market in the same period of 2013.

HHIE’s construction equipment sales director, Alain Worp, said: ‘For next year and beyond, the primary target remains to further increase European market share in all the machine segments we are covering, especially in the key countries of UK, Germany and France, which, at the moment, represent about 70% of the total European potential.’

Mr Worp added: ‘Hyundai is a growing brand all over Europe but we have done especially well in the UK. The challenge ahead is to continue this growth path with our existing Hyundai dealers in the UK and to strengthen and grow our dealer network throughout Europe, and to enhance and widen our product portfolio.’

A recent CECE report has revealed that the UK is currently the best performing construction equipment market in Europe, with earthmoving equipment sales having grown by 44% in the first half of this year, compared with the same period in 2013.
