Loughborough-based waste-recycling firm takes ownership of HX300AL crawler excavator

MULTI-disciplinary contractor True Group have taken delivery of a new Hyundai HX300AL excavator for use at their busy and growing waste transfer station in the East Midlands. The machine is the first to feature the updated striking livery of True Group, following a major rebrand to reflect the diversification of the business.

Expansion has been organic in the last few years, with the company creating new internal divisions to meet its customers’ evolving needs. True Group, for example, have moved into crushing and screening of construction and demolition (C&D) waste materials across the East Midlands, which has led to the development of a waste transfer facility that produces hardcore and screened soils for re-use.

‘It took about six months to get the waste transfer station up and running,’ said Tom MacFarlane, founder and managing director of True Group. ‘The Environment Agency has been very helpful, and we are working towards our CIWM (WAMITAB) certification.’

With a storage capacity of up to 75,000 tonnes per year, the waste facility recycles more than 95% of the material collected from sites throughout the region. The HX300AL excavator is equipped with a 2.5m wide Allu screening bucket, which is used to feed a mobile crusher on site. True Group will also make the new machine available for plant hire, and it will be offered with a range of specialist attachments, including hydraulic breakers, mulchers, shears, and vibrating plates.

Powered by a 194kW (260hp) Stage V Cummins engine, the 30-tonne HX300AL is equipped with an all-in-one exhaust after-treatment system with no requirement for exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). This contributes to improved fuel consumption and longer service intervals.

The operator’s cab features an 8in touchscreen monitor for the operator to access machine control menus and to monitor excavator performance. For increased safety, the excavator features Hyundai’s Advanced Around View Monitoring (AAVM) system, providing the operator with maximum visibility all around the machine.

The AAVM unit also includes Intelligent Moving Object Detection (IMOD) technology, which senses and warns the operator if people or objects come within 5m of the excavator, preventing accidents and improving site safety.

True Group are currently embarking on a major fleet replenishment programme to upgrade their machinery fleet as part of the company’s rebrand refresh. ‘We’re spending around £3 million this year alone on new equipment and infrastructure. ensure our customers have the latest machines,’ concluded Mr MacFarlane.
