High specification machine tempts MT Bryan Contractors

MT Bryan’s new Volvo ECR88 Plus has been equipped with a Geith hydraulically operated ‘thumb’, which is mounted on the underside of the dipper arm. The attachment works independently from the bucket cylinder and is operated via the hammer shear circuit, which is a standard feature on all Volvo compact excavators. The ‘thumb’ is also designed to clamp to the bucket’s cutting edge without interfering with the bucket teeth.

Mike Bryan explained: ‘We were looking for a midi-sized machine that was compact but able to tackle a wide range of duties and were impressed with the standard specification of the Volvo ECR88. The combination of the machine and the Geith attachment is proving to be very versatile - picking and sorting stone for house building, and handling diverse material such as timber, concrete and rubble.’

The Volvo ECR88 Plus is powered by a Volvo 3.4-litre low-emission engine producing 57hp coupled to a load-sensing hydraulic system for fast cycle times and smooth control. The machine offers a horizontal reach of 7.3m and a lift capacity of 960kg at full reach across the carriage.

The ECR88 Plus features a comfortable, spacious cab with a wide uncluttered floor. The instrument panel provides operators with at-a-glance monitoring of all key functions and operator fatigue is reduced through easy-grip, high-response joystick control levers. The rubber-mounted cab reduces whole-body vibration and external noise, whilst air conditioning is fitted as standard.

The new ECR88 Plus joins two Volvo EC140C excavators and an order for a two-tonne EC20B compact excavator has also been placed for imminent delivery.
