Hansford Construction choose Schmitz tipper trailer

Tipper trailer

High-quality design and lower total cost of ownership key factors in new trailer purchase

DEMOLITION specialists Hansford Construction are reaping the benefits of their Schmitz Cargobull light steel half-pipe tipper trailer, which offers greater safety and efficiency when operating in busy quarry environments.

The new 8.2m long trailer joins a mixed fleet of trucks, excavators and mini-diggers operated by the West Dorset-based firm and will be used to transport aggregates from quarries in Devon, Dorset and Somerset, as well as waste material from the same areas. The tipper is the first order the business has placed with Schmitz Cargobull UK & Ireland.

James Hansford, contracts manager for Hansford Construction, said: ‘When it came to expanding our fleet and after looking at our trailers, Schmitz Cargobull was the only brand we considered. The total cost of ownership represents real value for money and the product quality is impressive so we know we will be able to keep it running for a long time.’

Manufactured in Gotha, Germany, the tipper has been built using the highest-quality steel. It features a 5mm trough floor and a steel top-hinged tailgate, as well as Schmitz Cargobull’s own ROTOS axles and running gear. Other benefits include: ‘maintenance-free’ bearings; an electronic braking system for increased safety; a disc brake ventilation system; and a PVC roller curtain.

Schmitz Cargobull UK & Ireland are a subsidiary company of the German-owned Schmitz Cargobull Group. With an annual production of some 58,000 vehicles and around 5,700 employees, Schmitz Cargobull AG are one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of semi-trailers, truck bodies and trailers for temperature-controlled freight, general cargo and bulk goods.
