First stop for new bedding mortar

CEMEX Readybase

CEMEX Readybase used for first time in multi-million pound ‘Heart of Slough’ development

MORE than 1,500 tonnes of a new bedding mortar, CEMEX Readybase, have been used for the first time in the extensive paved areas around the iconic bus station in the £450 million ‘Heart of Slough’ development.

Manufactured using factory cements and graded aggregates to a guaranteed high standard, Readybase meets BS7533 and is delivered dry in a silo to be mixed with water on site.

The product can be laid to a thickness of between 10mm and 75mm at one time with subsequent layers added as required.

As well as its long-term durability, another of its key attributes is that the area can be walked on after just 12h and can withstand vehicle traffic after 24h, saving valuable time.

Steve Crompton, CEMEX technical director commented: ‘Readybase has been developed for use with rigid bound paving and is the perfect solution for large areas with heavy footfall and vehicle movements, such as bus stations or shopping centres.’
