First Hitachi hybrid sold in the Americas

French Guiana-based Maillet TP acquire first Hitachi ZH210LC-5 excavator in South America

THE first Hitachi hybrid excavator in the Americas, a ZH210LC-5, has been sold to Maillet TP. The brand new machine will be delivered in July to work primarily on the company’s earthmoving projects in French Guiana.

Stéphane Maillet, managing director of Maillet TP, said he wanted a new machine that reflected the company’s philosophy of working with innovative equipment – and the Hitachi ZH210LC-5 excavator model fitted the bill.

He commented: ‘We required a high-performance medium excavator that was in keeping with the values of the company and our employees. As fuel costs are high in French Guiana, we wanted not only a machine that offers high fuel efficiency, but also one that is environmentally friendly. The Hitachi hybrid excavator ticked all the boxes.’

The ZH210LC-5 excavator is said to provide energy-saving performance without compromising on power, speed or ease of operation. In addition, the use of Hitachi’s TRIAS HX system, which incorporates advanced technologies adapted from hydraulic, electric and battery-powered excavators, is said to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions by up to 31% on the hybrid model.

Pierre Grandvillemin, sales director of Matériels & Services, the Hitachi dealers for French Guiana, has worked with Maillet TP since 2009. He said: ‘The possibility of purchasing the hybrid excavator was first discussed a year ago. However, Mr Maillet wanted to hear feedback about the ZH210LC-5 from French customers in Europe before making an order. The support Maillet TP can expect from Matériels & Services and Hitachi has also given him the added confidence to invest in this innovative hybrid product.’
