Finning introduce new Cat C9.3B industrial engine
EU Stage V-compliant industrial engine now available and will be on display at Hillhead 2018
THE new Cat C9.3B industrial engine, compliant with EU Stage V emissions standards, is now available from Finning UK and Ireland, sole suppliers of Cat engines in the UK and Ireland.
The six-cylinder, 9.3-litre engine builds on the capabilities of previous Cat models that have logged more than 200 million hours in real-world, off-highway applications, whilst meeting the stringent emission requirements of the upcoming EU Stage V standards.
Finning will be exhibiting the new engine on stand Z5 at Hillhead 2018, which takes place from 26–28 June at Hillhead Quarry, near Buxton.
Featuring a new high-pressure common-rail fuel system and simplified air, electrical and aftertreatment technology, the C9.3B can produce up to 340kW of power and 2,088Nm of torque, and is said to deliver 18% more power and 21% more torque than its predecessor, whilst weighing 12% less too.
The engine’s patented aftertreatment technology, which is compact and lightweight in design, is 39% smaller and 55% lighter than the Tier 4 Final product.
Keith Andrews, Industrial Business Unit manager at Finning, explained: ‘As the EU Stage V emissions standards draw ever closer, the next generation of engines to meet these regulations has been developed by Cat, offering simplified design, improved performance and easy installation.
‘Supported by Cat’s extensive experience in the off-highway construction market, the C9.3B engine has undergone thorough testing to ensure it can meet the industry’s newest and most stringent standards.
‘The engine’s increased power and torque, combined with a simpler, lighter package, means users will enjoy greater performance and lower fuel consumption by up to 3%. The system also offers exceptional starting capabilities in cold climates.
‘By building upon proven technology, Cat have developed an industrial engine that can confidently meet a user’s expectations for quality, performance and reliability. As the sole supplier of Cat equipment in the UK and Ireland, we will be exhibiting the solution at this year’s Hillhead event.’
