Catplant power up with rebuilt Cat D10T dozer
Fully rebuilt Cat D10T dozer enhancing sustainability and productivity at fraction of the cost of buying new
CATPLANT Ltd, a leading operator in quarry, landfill and power generation based in Doncaster, recently opted for a rebuilt Cat D10T from Finning UK and Ireland as opposed to buying new. This strategic decision reflects the growing trend in the heavy equipment sector of opting for rebuilt machines as a means of maximizing machine lifecycle, enhancing sustainability credentials, and reducing capital expenditure.
Ronnie Harrod, managing director of Catplant, said: ‘We were in the market for a reliable, full-time workhorse of a machine but when faced with the high cost of brand-new machinery we began to explore alternative options. When a Cat D10T became available, we seized the opportunity to work with Finning and invest in a Cat certified rebuild.
‘Choosing a rebuilt machine has allowed us to maximize cost saving, minimize downtime, and support our sustainability goals all at the same time. The machine now operates to like-new performance standards and will play a critical role in providing essential services to the region's infrastructure projects for many years to come.’
The Cat D10T dozer from a former power station was brought to the Leeds Finning branch where it underwent a comprehensive Cat Certified Component Rebuild.
Ben Jarzyna, product support account manager at Finning UK and Ireland, said: ‘Our team worked with Ronnie to ensure the rebuilt Cat D10T dozer would offer like-new performance to meet the demanding environments that his fleet work in. To deliver this, we performed a comprehensive Cat Certified Component Rebuild that included replacement of all pumps and motors, resealing of all cylinders and valve blocks, replacement of all hydraulic hoses, as well as cleaning and testing of the cooler. In doing so, we ensured all components were refurbished to original specifications and, therefore, will deliver performance comparable to that of brand-new equipment.
‘Additionally, we reconditioned the torque converter, final drives and brakes, and completed radiator, full blade and ripper overhauls. Finally, we refreshed the cab to maximize operator comfort and performed a complete shot blast and paintwork application to ensure the machine was returned to peak external condition.
‘The Cat Certified Component Rebuild costs less than purchasing new equipment or components and incorporates the latest engineering updates and technical improvements that will enhance the efficiency of the machine. The sustainability benefits were also a key driver of this investment as it reduces waste and minimizes environmental impact, in line with Catplant’s sustainability goals. This is all backed by warranty and support from Finning, to ensure peace of mind throughout the machine's extended lifecycle.’
Finning offer comprehensive machine inspections for customers considering maximizing their machine’s lifecycle with a rebuild option. Alternatively, Finning have recently launched their ‘Rebuilt and Ready to Go’ programme, giving customers immediate access to Cat machines that have been fully rebuilt to deliver like-new performance, but at a lower cost, with sustainability benefits.
