All-new 10-tonne compact wheel loader from Komatsu
WA170M-11 delivers ideal balance between versatility and productivity with dash-11 loader styling
KOMATSU have expanded their wheel loader range with the all-new compact WA170M-11. Built in Hanover, the 10-tonne machine is designed from the ground up and engineered to meet the rigorous demands of extreme industrial applications, delivering the ideal balance between versatility and productivity together with iconic dash-11 loader styling.
Product manager Michael Wadsack explained: ‘We are proud to add this completely newly designed machine to our wheel loader product line-up. It has been developed in close collaboration with customers and distributors based on their needs. The new WA170M-11 is designed for comfort, durability, and ease of maintenance. With its compact dimensions, it facilitates quick and easy transport. Moreover, a wide range of factory-installed options allows for customization to suit almost any application.’
Equipped with a four-cylinder Komatsu diesel engine offering 96kW (103.5hp) of power, the new WA170M-11 meets the current EU Stage V emission regulations and is supplied with environmentally friendly HVO diesel fuel as standard.
Thanks to its low centre of gravity and new air-suspended premium seat with an attached control console, the loader is said to be particularly comfortable to operate, with all important functions displayed on the monitor via the as-standard Komtrax fleet-management system. Joystick steering is available as an option, whilst a rear-view camera is fitted as standard to ensure the best all-round visibility.

The new WA170M-11 can be ordered with two different loader linkages. In addition to the classic Z-kinematics, Komatsu are now offering ‘Tool Linkage’ kinematics, as seen on their larger models, for the first time in this class. This means that the machine can be used flexibly and with existing attachments for a wide variety of tasks. The loader, which has a bucket capacity of 1.5–1.7m3 and tipping load (articulated) of 7,200kg, can be supplemented with high-flow hydraulics, additional control circuits, tool management, or a trailer coupling.
The WA170M-11’s new diesel particulate filter only needs replacing after 6,000h and the exhaust gas treatment is fully automatic, thereby ensuring uninterrupted workflow. All maintenance points are centralized and easily accessible from the ground via a hinged engine hood, and, as with all Komatsu compact wheel loaders, the cab can be tilted for quick access to all components.
