Final call for 2009 Health & Safety Awards

THERE is now just one week left in which to enter for this year’s prestigious Mineral Products Association (MPA) Health & Safety Best Practice Awards Scheme.

On the basis that health and safety best practice is to everyone’s benefit, the MPA has opened up the scheme to all those with an interest in the quarrying industry – from plant and equipment manufacturers, importers, suppliers and dealers to contractors, consultants and quarry operators. Membership of the MPA (or its constituent organizations) is not a condition of entry.

Entries can be submitted under five main topics –– Occupational Good Health; LGV Drivers Safety; Contractors Safety; Worker Involvement; and Communicating Bitumen Safety –– each of which will have an experienced independent judge. There will also be categories for engineering initiatives, training initiatives and management systems initiatives.

Entries with up to six supporting images can be completed online or sent via post, email or on CD-ROM. For further information about the scheme, including entry form downloads, visit the Safequarry.com website homepage and click on the gold button.

Please note, the deadline for the receipt of entries is Friday 1 May 2009.
