First phase of new Kent County Council Highway Resurfacing Contract gets under way

EUROVIA Contracting have recently mobilized and programming is now under way for the first phase of works on the new Kent County Council Highway Resurfacing Contract.

The two-year contract, with an estimated value of £8 million, began on 1 July 2014 and has the potential to be extended for up to a further two years.

The first phase includes a major reconstruction scheme to be carried out during the summer holiday period.

With multiple sites and five phases, works are predominately for resurfacing and road markings but also include minor drainage works, specialist trades on specific sites such as joint sealing and stress absorbing solutions, the installation of traffic loops and high-friction surfacing.

Neil Huntington, Eurovia regional director, said: ‘We have a long history of working in Kent and most recently, have worked in the north of Kent on the highways contract. We are delighted to have secured this new contract and are looking forward to working with Kent County Council across the whole county.’
