Hyundai Heavy Industries Europe announce unit sales and market share results for 2013

HYUNDAI Heavy Industries Europe (HHIE) sold 3% more Hyundai construction equipment across Europe in 2013, compared with 2012, and saw their market share of machines weighing more than 8 tonnes rise by more than 30%.

Hyundai’s parts division also revealed encouraging results with 12% more Hyundai parts sold in Europe in 2013, compared with 2012.

In the UK market the company’s heavy-line crawler excavators (14–80.5 tonnes) showed the most impressive growth performance with a total of 522 machines sold in 2013, representing a 69.48% increase on sales in 2012.

Across all equipment categories (crawler excavators, mini-excavators, wheeled excavators and wheel loaders), the company saw a 6.67% increase in the number of machines sold (874 units) in the UK in 2013, representing an increase in overall market share of 1.19%.

HHIE’s construction equipment sales director, Alain Worp (pictured), said: ‘Hyundai is a growing brand all over Europe but especially in the UK. The challenge ahead is to continue this growth path with our existing Hyundai dealers in the UK.’

Hyundai have made a commitment to exhibit at several key UK exhibitions, including Scotplant 2014, Hillhead 2014 and Plantworx 2015, and will be introducing five new machines during 2014 – the R125-9A, R17-9A, R160W-9A, HL767-9A and HL777-9A.
