Acquisition of Specialised Belt Supplies strengthens company’s business in steep-inclined conveyors

HANOVER-based ContiTech have strengthened their industrial business in specialized conveyor belts by purchasing Thetford-based Specialised Belting Supplies Ltd. This British company has been in the market since 1984 and, with 50 employees, produces steep-angle conveyor belts for the transport of bulk materials including ore, coal and gravel.

Hans-Jürgen Duensing, business unit manager of the ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group, commented: ‘The purchase of this profitable and established company is strategically important and opens additional opportunities for us in the growing worldwide market of steeply inclined and vertical conveying.

‘We are not just taking over the business operations, but the production as well and want to expand it further. We also have new production technology to produce temperature-resistant corrugated sidewall belts.’

Both sides have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. Current Specialised Belting Supplies director Peter Lord will remain with the company as brand manager to ensure continuity in customer relations.
