Holcim expand waste-recycling footprint across Europe
Company accelerates European circular construction network with three UK, Germany and France deals
HOLCIM have strengthened their position as a leader in circular construction with the completion of two major acquisitions in the UK and Germany – and an agreement for a third in France – adding a combined 1.3 million tonnes of annual permitted processing capacity to their waste-recycling portfolio.
In the UK, as Agg-Net reported yesterday, Holcim have completed the acquisition of Thames Materials, a key West London recycler of construction demolition materials (CDM). The move significantly expands Holcim’s circular services across the Greater London area and follows its 2023 acquisition of East London-based Sivyer Logistics.
In Germany, Holcim have acquired a majority stake in the recycling business of A&S Recycling GmbH, adding three sites in the Greater Hanover region and increasing Holcim’s total number of German recycling hubs to 10. The acquisition of the CDM recycling business in Northwest France will strengthen Holcim’s regional presence and increase their network in the country to 28 recycling centres.
Holcim CEO Miljan Gutovic commented: ‘The acquisitions of Thames Materials, A&S Recycling GmbH, and a recycling business in Northwest France will extend our leadership in circular construction and contribute to our NextGen Growth 2030 target of recycling more than 20 million tons of construction demolition materials a year. The future of construction is circular, and I look forward to realizing that future together with our new colleagues.’
Together, these acquisitions will further scale Holcim’s ECOCycle circular technology, enabling more recycled materials to be reintroduced into new construction and supporting the company’s ambition to drive low-carbon, resource-efficient building across Europe.
