CEMEX staff switch their head lights on

CEMEX staff wearing their head lights

Company introduces a simple, cheap and effective way to help prevent slips, trips and falls in the dark

WITH the dark nights and poor visibility slips, trips and falls are the most prevalent hazard in winter time, but CEMEX UK have found a simple, cheap and effective solution to help prevent such incidents – a head light.

The idea came from a batcher working at one of the company’s ready-mixed concrete plants and today more than 500 employees, ranging from operational staff to the commercial, technical and senior management team, as well as 500 independent haulier contractors in the Readymix and Mortars division have this necessary health and safety gadget as part of their required PPE.

CEMEX said the criteria for the light were that it should be easy to fit, dust resistant, and have a minimum luminosity of 60 lumens, equivalent to 1W.
