Caterpillar launch new 323F LN excavator

Cat 323F LN excavator

Latest Stage IV-compliant machine offers increased fuel efficiency and enhanced operator comfort

THE new Caterpillar 323F LN excavator, with its reinforce structures and significant counterweights, has been specially designed to take on the most demanding applications.

The heavy-duty booms and sticks feature high-strength steel and box section construction with internal baffles for added durability, while the massive upper frame, carbody (lower frame) and track roller frames have been carefully specified for strength and long-term durability.

The F-Series excavator delivers a 4% improvement in fuel efficiency, compared with the 323E LN model, thanks to a Cat C4.4 ACERT engine (120kW) that meets Stage IV emissions standards. Proven electronic, fuel, air and after-treatment components (including a maintenance-free diesel particulate filter) are said to provide effective emissions control without interrupting work cycles and with no compromise in productivity, fuel efficiency and service life.

The fuel efficiency of the C4.4 ACERT engine is further enhanced with an automatic engine speed control that lowers engine speed during no load/light load conditions. The 323F LN excavator is also equipped with an idle shutdown system that stops the engine after a pre-set idling interval.

In addition, three power modes – standard, Eco or HP – allow the operator to select an engine operating speed to match the application. The engine also operates efficiently on biodiesel up to B20 when blended with ULSD fuel.

The 323F LN’s spacious and comfortable cab features a pressurization system that provides positive, filtered airflow alongside joystick controllers mounted on height-adjustable consoles. Safety features include: a cab-integrated roll-over-protection structure (ROPS); anti-skid surfaces; programmable halogen working lights; a large skylight; and a rear-view and right-side view camera system.

The excavator also features Cat Connect which incorporates the smart use of fleet-management technology and services. The operator can benefit from the optional Product Link system that helps fleet owners manage equipment productivity, and reduce operating costs through an online VisionLink interface by tracking critical items, such as location, hours, fuel usage, diagnostic codes, and idle time.

Included in the Cat Connect technology as standard is the Grade Control and Slope system, which provides real-time positioning information and cut-and-fill data via the standard cab monitor. The system helps eliminate digging and slope rework by doing it first time round, saving money on fuel and materials while also minimizing the need for grade checking.

For added performance, there is the optional Cat Grade and Assist system which delivers further gains in efficiency and productivity.
