A trio of Doosan ADTs for RJT Excavations

Doosan DA30 articulated dumptrucks

Scottish contractor bolsters earthmoving fleet with three new DA30 articulated dumptrucks

JEDBURGH-based RJT Excavations have purchased three new Doosan DA30 articulated dumptrucks (ADTs), following extensive trials of various construction equipment brands.

Doosan’s five-year/10,000h warranty offer was a key factor in RJT’s decision to purchase the South Korean machinery for the first time.

Euan Heard (pictured), assistant plant manager for RJT Excavations, said: ‘Being a contractor, downtime is a major concern to us. James Gordon Ltd’s [authorized local dealers for Doosan] excellent network coverage and Doosan’s manufacturer warranty have given us peace of mind for the long term and we look forward to a good working relationship with Gordons and Doosan.’

As with all Doosan ADTs, the DA30 model features an articulation hinge positioned behind the turning ring to provide equal weight distribution to the front axle even during maximum steer articulation. Together with a free-swinging rear tandem bogie, this ensures equal distribution of weight to each wheel and ensures permanent six-wheel contact and drive for equal power distribution and superior performance on difficult terrain.

According to Doosan, the combination of the forward turning point, unique tandem bogie and sloping rear frame results in ‘best-in-class’ rough- and soft-terrain capabilities, and avoids the need for electronic aids such as traction control.

The DA30 ADT is powered by a Scania DC9 Stage IV/Tier 4 Final-compliant diesel engine with a gross power output of 276kW (370hp). It meets the current emission regulations (without the need for a diesel particulate filter) through the use of both selective catalytic reduction and exhaust gas recirculation technologies.
