WC Watts choose Bell wheel loader

Bell L1806E wheel loader

Aggregates supplier purchases new Bell L1806E loader for fuel-efficiency and higher productivity

W CLIFFORD Watts have, for the first time ever, acquired a new wheel loader from Bell Equipment, citing fuel-efficiency as their key consideration. The Yorkshire-based firm has traditionally run loaders from other leading manufacturers but decided to see whether the Bell machines lived up to their growing reputation.

According to Richard Watts, director of WC Watts, the Bell L1806E was one of the machines put through an ‘extensive demo’ conducted by an independent assessor in the presence of the manufacturers’ representatives over a number of days.

‘What we found was that the Bell exceeds other machines that we’ve tried in terms of productivity,’ he commented. ‘Productivity is key and when we worked out what the fuel saving was with the Bell wheel loader, we found we should end up paying much less during the life of the machine than we would otherwise have paid.’

The new Bell L1806E (pictured), part of a fleet of 15 loaders and around 60 other trucks and excavators operated by WC Watts, is now working across the firm’s sand and gravel sites as well as being available for hire.

Mr Watts said he had been particularly impressed by the service he had received from Bell before, during and after the purchase. ‘It’s a seamless service,’ he said. ‘It’s how you would expect the top tier of machinery suppliers to be – yet that doesn’t always follow with all manufacturers. I would absolutely go for Bell again.’

The L1806E purchased by WC Watts is a mid-sized wheel loader within Bell’s six-strong range. The other models available in the UK range from the smaller L1204E to the larger L2606E.

The Bell loaders are said to have the highest ‘as standard’ specification on the market, and all incorporate the unique QuadCool cooling system, which prevents airborne debris from clogging-up the engine and causing unnecessary downtime.

Nick Learoyd, sales and marketing manager for Bell Equipment UK, said: ‘WC Watts are yet another in a long line of established and highly regarded companies to have recently put their trust in a Bell loader for the first time.

‘It’s extremely difficult to break into companies where there’s been a long-term relationship built up with another manufacturer, so this latest sale is hugely rewarding. What pleases me most is that Bell are not only praised for their efficient and great-value products, but for the manner in which we conduct our business.’
