Volvo engines certified for EU Stage IIIB
VOLVO Penta have received Stage IIIB approval for European off-road diesel emissions standards some eight months ahead of the legal enforcement date of 1 January 2011. The certification was issued by the Swedish test authority in accordance with the European Commission (EC) emissions directive 2010/26/EC.
The company has a 16-model Stage IIIB-compliant engine range with power outputs ranging from 129 to 515kW. Volvo Penta’s latest engine technology has been specially designed to reduce nitrogen oxide and particulate matter emissions to near-zero levels.
Using selective catalytic reduction, the company’s engines are able to reduce nitrogen oxides, while increasing fuel economy and minimizing CO2.
