Volvo CE gain national skills training accreditation

AS part of a European initiative by Volvo Construction Equipment to launch a road paving training course focusing on providing contractors and industry bodies with high-quality training for paving personnel, the Duxford-based dealership has gone a step further and achieved accreditation with The National Skills Academy.

The Pavers Applications training course has been designed to improve the knowledge and understanding of paving techniques through a combination of classroom-based teaching and practical hands-on training operating Volvo machinery.

The two-and-half-day course, which takes place at a purpose-built customer-support centre at Immingham, can be tailored to suit individual contractor’s needs and directed to meet all levels of existing knowledge from novices and experienced road crews to management and technical personnel.

Since the course began at the start of the year, Volvo say that they have received extremely positive feedback from both students and companies sponsoring them, such as Lafarge and Eurovia.

Presenting the company with its accreditation award earlier this month, Richard Bloxam, Proskills network development manager (pictured centre), said: ‘Accreditation marks out those training providers that offer specialist and high-quality training to our sector. Volvo Construction Equipment are now one of 30 training organizations that have achieved our high standard and the first industry supplier to gain accreditation, which demonstrates that they are leading the way.’
