UK Highways Conference

Service companies sharing innovative ideas to help highways asset managers meet tomorrow’s challenges

OVER the next few weeks, highways asset managers will have a number of opportunities to learn more about how they can address local issues with cost-effective, quality solutions at a new series of conferences.

Aware of the increasing number of challenges faced by highways asset managers, four leading highways sector service companies –– Asphalt Reinforcement Services (ARS), Environmental Scientifics Group (ESG), Stabilised Pavements Ltd (SPL) and Star Uretech –– have created and sponsored the ‘UK Highways Conference series’, to share practical ideas and tips that will help the industry to ‘do more with less’.

Based on the theme of ‘new directions’, the series of free roadshows will cover ideas for improving quality and performance, managing budgets effectively and addressing environmental issues. Each session will be CPD accredited and open to those directly involved in managing local authority highways.

The four roadshows will be held on: 22 June at Grays Hotel and Conference Centre, Telford; 28 June at Brecon Castle Hotel, Powys; 5 July at the Manor House, Godalming; and 19 July at the Civic Chambers, Durham.

Describing the conference series as ‘an excellent initiative’, Howard Robinson, chief executive of the Road Surface Treatments Association (RSTA), commented: ‘Highways asset managers are under constant and increasing pressure to meet their objectives, so the opportunity to discover new ways to do so is a welcome step forward for the industry.’
