The new Volvo FMX breaks cover at Hillhead 2010
Volvo’s rugged new FMX construction truck is represented at the Hillhead Show in 2010 by a 26-tonne GVW, all-wheel-drive 6x6 tipper. The left-hand drive FMX is displayed on the Volvo Group stand.
Built specifically for heavy construction tasks, the specification of the FMX on display at Hillhead includes the D11C 11-litre engine rated at 450hp driving all three axles through a Volvo Powertronic six-speed, fully automatic gearbox. The Volvo in-line six-cylinder D11C450 diesel delivers 2150Nm of torque between 950-1400 rev/min.
The FMX on show at Hillhead features a full sleeper cab, 4,300mm wheelbase and RT3210HV heavy-duty hub reduction rear axles running on Volvo’s proven T-Ride bogie suspension. Final drive ratio is 3.61:1.
Since being premiered at the BAUMA Show in April, the FMX is attracting interest among UK and Ireland construction industry customers looking for a productive and tough new construction truck. The Hillhead show represents the FMX’s first public appearance in the UK.
Volvo Trucks have joined forces at Hillhead 2010 with fellow Volvo Group company Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE). The two companies are sharing a stand to demonstrate their ability to offer an integrated total solution to construction industry operators.
Volvo Trucks UK and Ireland managing director Göran Nyberg said: 'The introduction of the FMX means that we can now offer our construction industry customers a total solution. The new FMX is a great looking, rugged new truck and we are working in partnership with Volvo CE to offer customers a solution which includes not only fuel efficient trucks but also state of the art, highly productive machinery from Volvo CE.'
