Tarmac webinars

Industry professionals invited to register for latest instalment in free highways and infrastructure series

TARMAC are set to host the next instalment in their highways and infrastructure webinar series later this week, with industry professionals still able to sign up and register for the free event.

The session – ‘Supporting recovery: putting UK infrastructure on the right road to productivity’ – will take place on Friday 18 September, at 11.00am, and will cover the ways client and contractor teams can help to accelerate the delivery of major road schemes.

The Government’s multi-billion-pound pipeline of new infrastructure investment, including Highways England’s Road Investment Strategy 2, is set to bring the construction of new highways projects back into the public spotlight and play a key role in leading the country to economic recovery.

Panellists will include Tarmac’s Richard Vine, Central regional director for contracting; Toby Pyper, South regional director for contracting, Ewart Birkett, general manager for major projects in contracting, and AECOM’s James Burdall, associate director, transportation strategic consultancy.

The webinar will see speakers discuss the steps and practical measures the highways sector needs to take to support the recovery, including calls for closer collaboration with supply chain partners, as well as examples of new working practices, innovation and technologies that are helping to drive efficient delivery on the strategic road network.

Tarmac’s Richard Vine said: ‘The pipeline of major road projects is undoubtedly going to be vital in helping the UK steer its way through the aftermath of the COVID-19 crisis, and it’s therefore essential that the highways industry is ready and prepared to deliver at pace and scale.

‘This webinar will not only provide best-practice examples from schemes that have recently been successfully delivered, but also open up a discussion about how the sector can drive positive change and seize the opportunity to do things differently and more efficiently.’

The event is the latest in Tarmac’s free ‘Accelerating delivery in the age of Covid-19' webinar series, which has covered the ways that clients, contractors and supply chains – including those working across the local and strategic highways network – can work together to accelerate project delivery in the age of COVID-19.
